Are rising mortgage rates about to impact your monthly budget? We break down how new bank forecasts could change your payments.
Canada’s six largest banks have already moved to increase fixed rates, leaving many homeowners concerned about the path ahead. We analyze a report from a global bank predicting two more rate hikes, which would create a significant shift in annual costs for those currently carrying a variable rate mortgage.
We use visual aids to demonstrate exactly how a 0.50% interest rate increase changes your bottom line on a million-dollar mortgage. unemployment is up, tarrifs are up, so I expect the rates to go down
@mrmelmba · October 14, 2026 at 2:15 pm
Housing has been turned into a hybrid financial device similar to cryptocurrency, with an added feature. Homeowners are novice investors that must ignore the admonition never place all of your eggs into one basket because they require shelter.
Only invest as much as you can afford to lose.

In 1993 I was do happy to get the fixed 5-years mortgage at 8.5%.

If you want to steal money and not worry about jail then don’t rob a bank work for one.
@louismartin4446 · October 14, 2026 at 2:15 pm
Bank of Canada and the FED ONLY follows the bond market for 5 yr and longer maturity bonds. If the bond vigilantes don’t like a particular economy (which are a using the US dollar as method of exhange) then they will want higher rates to cover their risk of lending. The large treasury bond buyers determine the interest rates for mortgages or other longer term notes- NEVER the central banks

You may not believe this – You will own nothing – You will be happy. House will be like a utility- like a Hydo just rent it do not will own your home.

@BradBrad-w8b · October 14, 2026 at 2:15 pm

Appauvrir les pauvres et la classe moyenne pour enrichir les banques et les marchés boursiers.

Don’t listen to any of these suckers bankers, mortgage agents, brokers. Do everything in live and live your life with you family happily. Remember 2 things, husband and wife both has to work and 2 weeks out of 4 weeks husband shall work side hustle on weekends. And you primarily jobs has to be education baselined. I got 2 mortgages locked at 5% and 4.6% and i don’t give a shit to all these suckers. Live your life happily and whatever mortgage you are paying is actually piling up with the price increase of property as well.
Have fun and only solution is work hard when you are young.

Maybe it’s so they can hand out cheap loans to EU for military war drones, AI, war machines etc to bail out Germany, UK etc ? Carney’s bank DSRB. Defence Security Resilience Bank using RBC , TDbank, Scotiabank, CIBC, national bank and pensions …War equates to profits . Notice zero peace just more handouts !
@richardcorey8883 · October 14, 2026 at 2:15 pm
Carney's mentor Klaus Schwab said you'll own nothing and like it. So he can't let housing become affordable.
@surpotel8016 · October 14, 2026 at 2:15 pm
I would rent out all my rooms in my house like Poopjeet in Brampton
@QuantumTV · October 14, 2026 at 2:15 pm
Why are they coordinated? 😂
@usecos · October 14, 2026 at 2:15 pm
Most people still don't realize fixed rates follow the 5-year Government of Canada bond yield, not the Bank of Canada policy rate. When bond yields jumped back toward 3.7%, the banks immediately adjusted their fixed spreads to protect net interest margins.
@usecos · October 14, 2026 at 2:15 pm
People don't realize fixed rates track the 5-year bond yield, not the Bank of Canada. When that bond yield sits near 3.7%, fixed floors physically cannot drop below 4.5% regardless of what the central bank says. That spread is the real hidden squeeze on renewals right now.
@flyguy1637 · October 14, 2026 at 2:15 pm
Who the hell has a 1 million mortgage unless you are a multi millionaire!
@WORLD-PEACE-3 · October 14, 2026 at 2:15 pm
Bank of Canada needs to push back on this incompetent prime minister and tell them to stop giving Canadians money to Ukraine and funding the globalist human trafficking.
@DougEnglish-x6m · October 14, 2026 at 2:15 pm
Making Canada more expensive to pay for the Carney FAILURES! This is what the Elbow’s Up crowd voted for! Alberta needs to vote option 2 to start the process of separation to stop this insanity! An independent Alberta would control our own destiny not watch Ottawa piss it away! The federal Liberal Government is out of control!
@SquarishLink · October 14, 2026 at 2:15 pm
Fixed for 3-5 years. Its likely to go down in 3-5 years
@myopinio-m6w · October 14, 2026 at 2:15 pm
they are no longer Canadian banks they all move their headquarters to the states so I hear that would explain making most profit as the way to go. Either way they’ve accepted themselves by giving money to people who qualify and now they want to get it back. Good luck.
@andypapagrigoriou1010 · October 14, 2026 at 2:15 pm
At this point, stick to the variable….

Exodus 22:25 (KJV)
“If thou lend money to any of my people that is poor by thee, thou shalt not be to him as an usurer, neither shalt thou lay upon him usury.”

Proverbs 22:7 King James Version (KJV)
“The rich ruleth over the poor, and the borrower is servant to the lender.”
@johneee5513 · October 14, 2026 at 2:15 pm
The only thing I wonder is how ruined the “average” Canadian has to become to finally shake the idea that the Liberals will save them, and realize it’s their ongoing votes for the Liberals that caused all this… sorry Canada was tanking years before the orange menace appeared. Put your damn elbows down and open your eyes.
@jaymesmean · October 14, 2026 at 2:15 pm
Being debt free is a blessing most will never understand. If you want to feel youthful again, get rid of your bad debt. It's holding you back more than you think
