Im not sure what singleness has to do with it. I'm a man who's wife hasn't worked or paid a bill in 20 years. This is how it used to be. I'm buying our 1st home this year … By myself by this definition, I guess. This should be more about the inflationary environment we are in instead of another battle of the sexes piece … but ya'll got it.

Honey I'm on a fixed income I'm trying to get me one I'm saving up this is my first time doing this since my husband passed away we were supposed to get a habitat house he had cancer we was doing the hours but my husband died before the house was built add habitat humanity so I never got the chance to ever have my own home and it's hard now and it's hard now

I bought back in 2009 brand new home for 93k, today that home is mortgage free, while I watch people pay this 2 to 3k rent i only pay 280 a month to live in my home 1400 sq ft 3 bedrooms, that is all good but it was a struggle to up keep the home and deal with a mortgage that constantly increases in escrow for which I protested them property taxes every year and shopped around for cheaper homeowners insurance, homeownership is not for everyone but I certainly benefited from being a single woman with a paid off home

You should have been my real estate agent! My real estate agent didn't understand that I wanted to buy my forever home as a 30 yo single woman. She was married and always complained about her huzzzband, lol! She wanted me to buy a 'starter' home, 'find a maaaan' and buy a bigger home later. Like she really didn't get it! She could have ruined my experience if I didn't already know so much about real estate before I found her. Thankfully I ended up with my forever home, 4 miles from Costco, 3 bd, 2 ba, huge yard, and in a quiet cul de sac. I did the damn thing.
