Mortgage interest rates are getting worse, and buyers hoping for relief could be in for a rude awakening. I break down what’s pushing rates higher, how the bond market and our $40 trillion national debt play into it, and what could take mortgage rates toward 9% or back toward 6%. Higher rates are also putting pressure on sellers to cut prices and offer concessions, but will those savings be enough to offset the payment? Here’s what you need to understand before deciding to buy or wait.

I locked in at 3.125% in 2022. 😮

@Thatainthappening · November 1, 2026 at 2:19 pm

The last generation lived and dealt with 7-12% interest rates. Then again homes were much-much cheaper.

@arnoldmarcus3634 · November 1, 2026 at 2:19 pm

Rates are definitely suppressing home prices at this point.

@jackkk9211 · November 1, 2026 at 2:19 pm

Realtors are quiet now. They will be Ubering soon

@liamo9165 · November 1, 2026 at 2:19 pm

I went into contract on a house on Long Island the day that the bond market crashed and rates spiked in September. Did I screw myself? Essentially paying yesterdays home price (high) and today’s rates (high

@brian8940 · November 1, 2026 at 2:19 pm

Lol Both rates and prices need to come down

@NewYorkKnicks2026 · November 1, 2026 at 2:19 pm

I think it’s going to 10% by December

@NewYorkKnicks2026 · November 1, 2026 at 2:19 pm

As a Republican I blame the Republican Party. The mess up the economic gifts the democrats gives them.

@AllenD20 · November 1, 2026 at 2:19 pm

Me getting a 6.75 rate a few years ago and racing to do extra principle payments because of how bad the interest was😂

@joeyork9891 · November 1, 2026 at 2:19 pm

@Ganon64-s4k · November 1, 2026 at 2:19 pm

At least we have cheap gas prices! 😅

@halledwardb · November 1, 2026 at 2:19 pm

Couldn't happen at a better time.

@MBEG89 · November 1, 2026 at 2:19 pm

Not really, inflation and unsustainable house growth means we need to keep pushing those rates up.

@infinitejack2115 · November 1, 2026 at 2:19 pm

@DialedIn7 · November 1, 2026 at 2:19 pm

Trumps fault

@uliperezsatx · November 1, 2026 at 2:19 pm

The fed federal reserve had to raise it.. because of oil… They won't start printing money. They are just going to ask for bonds and to borrow money.. if they do print more money then our value of dollar will decrease dramatically hence why instead they raised it. I believe a point and a half.. meaning everything raises in the US.. meaning nobody will want to take out a loan or purchase houses. Meaning it will bring down inflation and prices then we will be OK.. let's calm down guys. It will come back down once things start to cool off a bit.

@david94134 · November 1, 2026 at 2:19 pm

My parents bought their house with 18% interest rates. They will create a black swan event and drive interest rates down. It’s so predictable 😂

@mapguy32 · November 1, 2026 at 2:19 pm

I predict the 10 year bond increasing to 7 or 8 percent.

@tulio3571 · November 1, 2026 at 2:19 pm

Even 6 pct is too high.

@4d4fastwitch454 · November 1, 2026 at 2:19 pm

Don’t you live in la or San Diego ? 🤣🤣🤣🤣

@thewatcher5851 · November 1, 2026 at 2:19 pm

Funny….The price of borrowing has risen yet the return of investment rate on Cds and bank accounts and bonds hasn't moved. Make it make sense

@mac9955 · November 1, 2026 at 2:19 pm

When are you going to do a video regarding polybutylene plumbing lines?

@juanmatos536 · November 1, 2026 at 2:19 pm

It’s hard to hear but mortgage rates should have been higher and now we have to play catch up but I don’t think they would never hit as high as they should be. 14% to 16% should be good play to be at on my opinion.

@Denise-k3x3p · November 1, 2026 at 2:19 pm

In the seventies we had 15 percent mortgages

@Eagleslair · November 1, 2026 at 2:19 pm

Thanks congress for borrowing 40 trillion. Trying to figure out just why anyone votes for these intelligent idiots? Stop giving billions away and pay down debt

@Beethmode91 · November 1, 2026 at 2:19 pm

The realtors that kept saying don’t marry the rate you can refi buy now are real quiet now.

@High_Indigo_Talk · November 1, 2026 at 2:19 pm
